sign up forum back recent topics search nahra - north american hunting retriever association details published: 05 november 2017 check out the new nahra invit ational website nahra high point dog award changes: several years ago an awards program was instituted called the “nahra high point dog award”. annually qualifying points earned during the calendar year were counted in each category within each region. the dog or dogs with the highest number of points were recognized. starting in 2018, this award will no longer be a regional award. the “nahra high point dog” will be the dog that earns the highest number of qualifying points in all of nahra. it will be awarded to a dog in each category. in the case of a tie the dog with the fewest number of entries will be selected. the intent of this change is to provide a prestigious award that values commitment and consistency. check out this great article on the 2017 nahra invitational in the kitsap sun online . for more photos check out facebook. ne w nahra rulebook available here new club/ returning club initiative: 1. a “new” club would be a club that has not ran a nahra test. a “returning” club, is a club that previously held a nahra field test but has not participated in nahra events for the previous 3 years. 2. new/returning clubs would receive a 1 year nahra club membership. in addition, all of the club’s non existing nahra members would receive a 1 year nahra membership if and when the club schedules a nahra field test through the cognizant regional director. 3. all nahra event fees will be waived for the first field test that the club holds. 4. the field test application, and the final field test report will still be required based on the current requirements and time lines. huntsecretary.com entry service will be contacted for that hunt and instructed not to charge for nahra fees. 5. all fees to huntsecretary will still be in place as this is not a nahra fee, it is a fee for huntsecretary’s servicesto take advantage of this new initiative, please contact your nahra regional director. the nahra bod unanimously approved to take the upland retriever program pilot program, and make it an official licensed nahra event there were no changes to the final pilot rules, and all points achieved during the pilot period will be awarded. platinum sponsors sponsors more sponsors partners from our president nahra president's message january 10, 2018 greetings and happy new year. i would like to start out by thanking all of you for your continued support to this organization. 2017, was a very successful year and i hope our success continues into 2018. moving into 2018, we celebrate nahra’s 35th year anniversary. in 35 years, nahra has gone through changes. regardless of what those changes have been, nahra's standard is still the only venue that fully tests the hunting retriever. when anyone has a need, nine times out of ten they will contact the nahra office. i would like to take this time, not only for myself, but also the nahra bod to wish rosemary haynes a happy anniversary and thank her for her 30 years of dedicated and outstanding service. for 30 years rosemary has been the face of nahra. the new 2018 nahra rule books have arrived at the nahra office. they will be getting shipped out to every current nahra member. if not already done so please renew your membership today to be included as a current member. the revised rule bookincorporates the upland retriever portion, as well as existing policies adopted by past board of directors. the digital version of the rule book can be found on the nahra web site. because of the revision to the rule book, the bod unanimously voted an implementation program which will require all judges to take and pass the newly revised judge’s test before being certified to judge. this policy is effective february 1, 2018. the new judge’s test can be found on the nahra web site. the bod also agreed that all judges, upon passing the revised test, will remain certified for a 3 year period without being required to attend a nahra judge’s clinic. that three year certification period will commence upon the date of grading the test. after that 3 year period, the existing judge's policy will require all judges to attend a judge's clinic for re-certification. please note, the bod still recommends and encourages clubs to offer judge's clinics. they are a valuable tool for consistence and quality of our judging pool. our first event of 2018 will be an upland test in the central region. the four points retriever club will have a two day event starting january 27 th . this event is now open for entries online. regional directors are working with clubs to get their 2018 event dates, please watch the nahra events calendar, and www.huntsecretary.com for the latest event information. happy new year to you all. kody bull, nahra president facebook twitter © 1983 - 2018 north american hunting retriever association 1983-2017
